Each year the New York State Council of School Superintendents (NYSCOSS) recognizes those individuals who have gone above and beyond for education and the children of New York State. This year NYSCOSS will honor Tech Valley High School Principal and Chief Academic Officer, James Niedermeier, with the Raymond R. Delaney Memorial Scholarship at the NYSCOSS Fall Leadership Summit. The scholarship is presented in memory of Raymond R. Delaney, a former President of the NYS Council of School Superintendents, who died of brain cancer while in office.

The annual scholarship awards $2,500 to an outstanding administrator who is in the process of completing a doctoral degree. Niedermeier is currently pursuing his Ed.D. at the Esteves School of Education at the Sage Graduate College. Each year numerous outstanding administrators are nominated and only one is selected by a committee of present and former Council presidents. Niedermeier was nominated for this distinct honor by John Yagielski and Dr. Lynne Wells for his commitment to education and project-based learning.

“I am flattered to be recognized by NYSCOSS,” Niedermeier said. “It is an honor to accept this award and join past recipients who I respect and admire.”

The New York State Council of School Superintendents is a professional and advocacy organization with over a century of service to school superintendents in New York State. The Council provides its more than 800 members with professional development opportunities, publications and personal services, while advocating for public education and the superintendency.

Niedermeier will receive the scholarship on Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Saratoga Springs City Center.
