Sean O’Brien joined Tech Valley High for the start of the 2013-14 school year.
His teaching career has spanned 25 years and five school districts. He has taught middle and high school English, journalism, and reading. He’s worked as a literacy coach and a teacher consultant for the National Writing Project, helping teachers integrate sound literacy practices into their content areas and facilitating professional development in multi-genre writing and technology-based literacy.
He is a New York State English Council Teacher of Excellence, and has authored standards-based curriculum for the New York State Education Department. Before teaching, Sean was a staff reporter for the Poughkeepsie Journal and a freelance writer. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and a master’s degree in developmental reading from SUNY Albany.
