Professional development to be offered next week
Tech Valley High School in conjunction with the Center for 21st Century Teaching and Learning will conduct a College & Career Readiness Institute next week.
The five-day professional development opportunity is designed to expose participants to the various aspects of the Tech Valley High School model. This model includes a strong school and classroom culture of trust, respect and responsibility, project-based curriculum development and facilitated learning through technology.
Approximately 20 teachers from across the region are expected at the event, said Laura Lehtonen, Century Teaching and Learning (CTL) coach.
Attendees will learn various examples of authentic assessments that incorporate the new common core standards for math, ELA, integrated writing in science and social studies, as well as 21st century skills.
The Institute will run from July 23 through 27, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at TVHS.
The cost is $600 per participant or $1,600 for a team of three.
