Beers earns Elmira Key Award
TVHS junior Savanah Beers has earned a prestigious award from Elmira College.
Beers, who attends TVHS from the Cairo-Durham School District, received the college's Key Award after being nominated by TVHS faculty.
The Key Award is an award of merit which is presented to outstanding girls and boys in their junior year of high school. Students eligible for the Key award are expected to have a minimum cumulative average of 90 and have demonstrated outstanding school and community leadership.
A Key award winner receives $12,000 a year tuition scholarship for four years upon enrolling to Elmira College. The reward is renewable each year with an academic average of 3.0 or higher. Recipients attending Elmira are also honored in the fall of their freshman year of college by the Alumni Association and are presented with the prestigious Elmira College Key.
