Students complete year with charity drive
Several TVHS freshmen are completing the school year by collecting clothes and food for needy people around the world.
The freshmen in teacher Jason Irwin's and Jen Hower's advisories are hosting a can food drive along with a collection of clothing, toiletries, and toys/games.
All of the donated items will be sent to charities based in the Capital Region, some of which will send the donations worldwide.
Charities which will receive the TVHS collection next week include the American Red Cross for Haiti Fund, The Salvation Army, area homeless shelters, the Children’s Hospital, and Toys for Tots, Irwin said.
All TVHS advisories must take part in a charitable activity during the school year as part of the school’s commitment to teaching students the value of community service and civic-mindedness.
