how did tech valley help shape your future?
It definitely opened up opportunities that I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere else. Our school is set apart from others because of the skills we learn and the experiences we get. I earned more than 30 college credits my junior year, and for my senior year I did a year-long internship at Buzz Media Solutions in Schenectady. Tech Valley never said no to anything I wanted to try or take on. I took classes not offered in house by taking them online or at a college. They didn’t say no when I wanted to get an outside experience. They never put me down, they always said yes.

What skills did you gain by coming to tech valley high?
I learned how to communicate and how to collaborate. It’s so important because the job force is changing, and these aren’t skills that you’re forced to learn in college. It’s important to be able to work with all different types of people because that’s a skill you need to work in any field.

What are your favorite memories of Tech Valley High?
Working at Buzz Media was my favorite experience at Tech Valley. Susan Bardack and Jeff Goronkin really trusted me, even though I’m so young. They dedicated so much time to me, and I think it’s great that local businesses invest in young people’s education the way they do at Tech Valley. Susan and Jeff have been really supportive, not only in what I’ve done at Buzz Media, but of my academics and plans for college.

Senior Share:
I’m a Girl Scout, and it’s a really big part of my life. I dedicate a lot of time to it and it means a lot to me. I’ve been in a troop with the same group of girls for 13 years. It’s been really fun to better our community with a close group of friends.
